Please join us for a day of meetings with legislators. We are working on logistics for overnight home hosting for those from further away, childcare while parents are in meetings, and carpooling options.

What to expect: When you fill out our form to let us know you plan to attend, we will attempt to set up a meeting with your representative and your senator. We will have small groups arranged to go to each meeting so that no one will be alone. Someone will be with each group as the leader and who can talk about the bill. Your job will be to tell your legislator where you are from, a little about your family, which this legislation matters to you.

We will have a room reserved in the Capitol Annex building (where all the legislative offices are located) that will serve as our “home base.” You can hang out in this room and make yourself comfortable. Volunteers will be in the room to answer questions and tell you where to go and what to do. We will have stickers for everyone to wear. This is also where kids can hang out. We will have adults assigned to the room at all times for those who need to leave their child during legislator meetings. Babies and school age children usually do great in meetings. Toddlers and preschoolers are not as impressed with the legislative process 🙂 Be sure to bring toys to keep little ones occupied in the home base room.

We will also be delivering cookies to all legislators, and you can help with that when you are not in meetings.

There is a cafeteria in the basement of the Annex building where you can get lunch.
