To whom it may concern: During the 2021 Kentucky legislative session, the Kentucky Hospital Association produced a one-page document of talking points related to HB92. The identical Senate companion bill, SB76, is not mentioned in the document. Mary Carol Akers Birth Centers Act is Pre-Filed for 2021

FRANKFORT, Ky. (November 19, 2020) – Parents planning for the birth of a child would have an additional option under legislation pre-filed by State Representative Jason Nemes for consideration during the 2021 Legislative Session. The measure, BR 274, proposes to exempt birthing centers from obtaining a certificate of need (CON), therefore eliminating unnecessary red tape that prevents licensed birthing centers from opening in Kentucky.
