Contacting Your Legislators

Contacting your legislators is easy and effective.  Legislators want to hear from their constituents, the people who live in their home district.  It does not matter if you voted for a particular legislator or not, they still represent YOU.

Find Your Legislator – The Kentucky Legislative Research Commission has an easy to use website to help you determine your legislators.  Just enter your address and click on the map.

Visiting Your Legislators – By far, a face-to-face meeting is the most effective method of contact with a legislator .  During the legislative session, this most often happens at the legislator’s office in Frankfort, but it is also possible to meet with them in your home district if they are willing.  Our resource guide will help you plan your visit.

Writing to Your Legislator –  Writing to your legislator is also a great idea.  Letters (particularly hand-written) are better than e-mail.  Check out our tips for writing to your legislator.
