Online Auction 2014 – Call for Donations

The Kentucky Home Birth Coalition is excited to announce our second online fundraising auction November 15 – 22, 2014.  Proceeds from the online auction will provide a major funding source for our advocacy activities during the 2015 Kentucky legislative session.  One of our major goals is to hire a lobbyist to assist in our efforts to pass legislation that would see Kentucky issue licenses to Certified Professional Midwives.  Our 2013 auction was extremely successful and raised over $3,000. Our Goal for 2014

2013 was quite a year for the Kentucky Home Birth Coalition.  We learned a great deal from our first experience of securing a bill sponsor and having a bill introduced in the Kentucky Senate, meeting with legislators, and funding our efforts.  With that experience under our belts, the steering committee examined how we can best focus our energy in 2014 to make the most progress toward our goal. My name is Kimberly Henderson, and I’m a new arrival in Kentucky from the Finger Lakes Region of New York. I have no biological children as of yet, but I have two beautiful soon-to-be step-sons; Stuart, who is two, and Joel, who is four. I am a nurse, and a long-time doula and birth activist.
